RCCT 2025 Classic Wheels & Sports Car Run

We didn’t think the weather could get better than last year… but somehow, it did!

The Rotary Club of Cotswold Tyndale’s Classic Wheels & Sports Car Run 2025 was an absolute triumph — a dazzling day packed with sunshine, horsepower, and heartfelt camaraderie. With over 70 stunning vehicles taking part, ranging from vintage icons (e.g. a 1920 Rolls Royce and a 1931 Lea-Francis Ace of Spades 4 seat D/H tourer) to modern classics (e.g. a whole display of Morgans right up to a 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera S), the atmosphere from 8:30am was electric as drivers gathered for their bacon or sausage baps and a good old-fashioned catch-up before hitting the road.

The carefully planned 70-mile route wound its way through the breath-taking countryside of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, treating participants to picturesque lanes, charming stone villages (yes, including Avebury’s iconic stone circle!), the majestic White Horse, and a relaxing halfway pause at the glorious Bowood House & Gardens. There, we were treated to cups of tea or coffee and melt-in-the-mouth shortbread — the perfect pick-me-up.

Back at the Hillesley Playing Fields, the cars returned in gleaming formation, proudly lining up in front of their plaques, ready to be admired. Visitors and fellow enthusiasts wandered between vehicles, sharing stories, admiring engines, and taking plenty of photos — some of which you’ll find in our online photo gallery.

And what a welcome! From the start to the final farewell, our Rotary members and volunteers greeted everyone with beaming smiles and helpful directions. As one participant put it, this was “precision organising from start to finish.”

The forecast had warned us of heat, so we came prepared — more gazebos than ever provided essential shade as everyone tucked into delicious BBQ fare. With steak or salmon parcels, a spread of fresh salads, potatoes, coleslaw, and a choice of sweets (or strawberries and cream… or a cheese board!), there was something for every appetite.

Entertainment came courtesy of live music by the brilliant Earl Grey & The biscuits and local drinks — a glass of Pimm’s, a chilled wine or beer, and plenty of soft options too — as guests relaxed under blue skies and shared tales from the drive. There were even a few cheeky navigational teasers on the route to keep everyone sharp!

The Classic Wheels run isn’t just about cars — it’s about community and contribution. Together, we raised close to £4,000 for the Rotary Big Space Cancer Appeal, bringing our total raised so far to over £80,000. That’s thanks to the support of everyone who came, drove, marshalled, cooked, poured, laughed, and gave generously.

And what did people say?

There’s so much more we could say, but we’ll let the smiles in our photo gallery and event video (see above) do the rest of the talking.

Thank you to everyone who made the day what it was — joyful, generous, unforgettable. We can’t wait to do it all again next year. Until then, drive safe and keep those classics purring.

Next Years event has the date set for 5th July 2026 so put it in your calendars NOW!!
